A real Kuta experience – Bali #Part 3

Kuta can get exceptionally busy as it’s one of the biggest tourist hubs in Bali. Kuta is packed with hotels, bars, restaurants and off course loads of massage parlours. The area has nice vibe and during the day and at night.

My favourite experience was assisting the turtle sanctuary to release baby turtles back into the ocean. This is such a great initiative by the Kuta Beach Sea Turtle Conservation of Bali. Plenty of sea turtles lay their eggs on Kuta beach; these eggs are rescued and taken to a hatching conservation area. Once hatched, the conservation team get the public involved to release hundreds, if not, thousands of baby turtles into the ocean.

This was an educational experience for me, as explained; if the eggs are left on the beach they would be crushed by human foot traffic. Once hatched on the beach, the turtles would become prey to many birds and may not reach the ocean.
So once briefed on how to release the turtles, it was time to say my good byes … and off the turtles went, struggling towards to the ocean, with everyone cheering these little guys on until they reached the water. An unforgettable experience!
